Dr. Joe Johnson (Welfont Joe Johnson) is an entrepreneur, investor, and startup expert. He is the founder and principal of GoodField Investments and the GoodField Foundation (www.GoodField.com).
With one amazing wife and six wonderful children, he is incredibly blessed. He and his family reside in paradise, aka Bradenton, Florida. When he is not enjoying time with his family, he is probably either researching, launching, or investing in startups.
Over the past 25 years, Joe has launched and funded over a dozen startups. Additionally, he has over a dozen years of experience investing in commercial real estate and has acquired over 10 million sq. ft. of commercial real estate spread out across dozens of states.
Joe has a PhD majoring in Entrepreneurial Leadership from Regent University and an MBA from Ashland University. He is also the Founder of Welfont – one of his startups that is now one of the fastest growing real estate organizations in the country (www.Welfont.com).

· Launched or funded dozens of startups from technology to media to education to financial services to real estate to events to publishing.
· Experienced 3 major life changing and character molding startup failures. Fortunately, the hard lessons learned with each failure were reapplied in the same industry with a different model and team, and consequently experienced 3 major follow-on startup successes.

2. Investments

· Investments in over a dozen startups averaging less than 50% success rate, but averaging well over 200% on an annualized portfolio basis.
· Active as a commercial real estate investor for over a dozen years, personally investing in over 10 million square feet of industrial, office, retail, land, residential and special purpose facilities throughout the U.S.
· Bought a real estate and investment training company near insolvency and turned it around to making millions in profit in less than 4 months by modifying the business model, restructuring the management, and refocusing on just three key performance metrics.
· Either lost money or made no money in the first 20+ real estate investment deals, but since have averaged over 130% ROI year-to-year on all real estate investments with a specialty on distressed real estate.
· Bought one of the largest indoor malls in the country, and sold it prior to closing and making over 40% return on investment.
· However, by far, the best return on investments have been with key people that I have hired over the years.

· At age 24, was brought in as CFO of a $12 million insolvent technology company 2 months away from bankruptcy, and was shortly promoted to CEO while leading a highly successful turnaround in less than 12 months.
· Led, negotiated, and managed multiple mergers, spin-offs, acquisitions, and exits.
Consulted as advisor or consultant to dozens of organizations either in the startup or scaling stages, as well as troubled companies looking to turnaround it’s financial performance.
