An $800 Loan Helped Get Seeds And Fertilizer

Motivated Philanthropist Welfont Joe Johnson, PhD assisted to fund a microloan for Hermenegildo, a farmer from Guatemala.
Here is Hermenegildo’ s Story
There is a little community called Chaquiya, which is in the heart of the district of Sololá in Guatemala. Here, you will find Herminegildo, a 37-year-old man who has a love for agriculture. This is the main way that he earns money, so that he can support and progress his family. He has been receiving loans from ADICLA over the years. Now, he is seeking a loan that will help him improve on his crop. His intention is to get the loan as soon as possible so that he can work on the soil and plant in the right season. He wants to purchase seeds and fertilizer for his carrot crop. With the profit he could make, his dream to support his children’s education can become a reality.
He wanted to receive his next loan from Association for the Holistic Development of the Basin of Lake Atitlàn (ADICLA) yet again. In addition to the income that he receives from his grocery store, he will be able to improve his productivity farming. Once approved, his loan was locally administered by ADICLA, a nonprofit rural community development organization that provides micro finance services to two of the poorest communities in Guatemala.
The lending platform Kiva made it possible for Joe Johnson, PhD (Welfont Joe Johnson) to fully fund Herminegildo’ s loan. To help someone in this way as well, visit www.kiva.org
