Here is Lidia’s Story

When you are in the Kamwenge, Uganda community, there is a hardworking mother of three named Lidia who has been making a living as a goat farmer. Right now, she wants to raise some more capital so that she can purchase more goats and improve her income. She has faced a number of challenges, the main one being that the area she lives in experiences a number of droughts. This has affected the success of her goats and made it challenging for her to achieve her goals. Rather than giving up in this challenging situation, she has chosen instead to grow her business by investing more into it. This is why she is currently seeking a loan.
She has chosen to connect with her local Kiva partner, HOFOKAM, for a loan to help in getting funds to purchase more goats. Her loan has been successfully locally administered by HOFOKAM, a non-governmental microfinance institution that was founded by the Catholic Diocesess of Hoima, Fort Portal and Kasese in Western Uganda.
It is through Kiva’s lending platform and HOFOKAM, that the philanthropist Joe  Johnson, PhD (Welfont Joe Johnson) made the decision to fully fund the loan for Lidia. She can now purchase the goats that she needs.
