Here is Charleen’ Story
When you are in Canlaon village, in the province of Negros Occidental in the Philippines, you will find a young lady named Charleen. She is 29 years old and happily married, with two children. Both of her children are in school. She has been working hard and earning a living by farming vegetables. She wants to increase her output by getting a loan to help her purchase fertilizer and other farm supplies. For the past eight years, she has received an income from farming vegetables as well as raising livestock. Her dream is to work hard, increase her output and save enough money to purchase more farmland.
Charleen recently approached the Negros Women for Tomorrow Foundation for a loan to help her get more fertilizer. She Wants to get 9,000 Philippine Pesos. Her loan was locally administered by the Negros Women for Tomorrow Foundation (NWTF), a non-governmental organization and Kiva partner.
Through the NWTF and Kiva’s lending platform, Welfont Joe Johnson made the decision to fully fund Charleen’s loan, so that she can expand her business and realize her dreams.
