Philanthropist and Entrepreneur Dr. Joseph Johnson (Welfont Joe Johnson)chose to fund a microloan for Safia to help her build up her husband’s shop in Pakistan.

In the center of Lahore, Pakistan, Safia and her family have their home. She is 36 years old and married with four children. Her husband is the sole breadwinner and runs a small garment shop in the market. As the season has changed in Pakistan and it is now winter, he wants to expand his business by purchasing a variety of warm clothes including sweaters, coats, gloves, mufflers and school jerseys.
She wants to do what she can to help her husband expand his business and for that reason, she has requested for a loan that will ensure that he can increase his net income.Safia’s loan was locally administered by BRAC Pakistan, a local Kiva partner.
